Hey Athena! You got some great points going on here. We are getting further into the issues of parental oversight with our kids since we just got an Xbox 360 this past Xmas.

Late to the party I know, but I will tell you I've been unimpressed with the way MS handles parental controls on that system. They are riddled with loopholes and you wind up either locking the system down completely, or leaving it wide open. There really isn't much middle ground. We screen the games they use, and how they use them, but with the online aspect, it gets tougher to be there all the time and good parental controls help.

You have the right idea about educating the kids and being upfront about things with them. Keep on Keeping on!

I am with you all the way on this one Athena. I make it known to my tween and my teen that I have the knowledge to access anything they do or say on their computers...but I won't unless they give me reason to. Like putting a password on their computer that I don't have or refusing to talk to me about important things or failing school or taking me off their friends list on FB. If they do those kinds of things it is a signal to me that they are hiding something and I'd better find out.

The teenager has learned this the hard way. :)
